Chamomile

A low, apple-scented plant with small daisy-like flowers, gathered wild and grown in monastic infirmary gardens. Medieval physicians used its flowers in infusions believed to be calming and good for digestion and wind, and one remedy combined it with dittany, scabious and pennyroyal as a remedy against poison. It was also valued for its scent.
