Willow withies → Basket
Picture to come.
A woven container made from flexible rods, typically willow or hazel from coppiced woodland, worked around upright stakes. Baskets of many sizes were used for carrying produce, fish, grain and fuel, for storage and in markets. Few survive, but basketry was a routine product of coppiced small wood in medieval England.
Caveats (confidence: high)
Survival of 12th-century baskets is poor; forms are known mainly from later evidence and illustrations.
