Foundry

Copper alloys were cast in 12th-century England, most visibly church bells of about 80 per cent copper and 20 per cent tin, along with cauldrons and small fittings. Bell founding began in monastic workshops, and early founders often travelled to cast bells on site. Pewter was permitted for church vessels in the 1070s, but London's pewter craft ordinances date from 1348. Shot belongs to the age of guns, from the 14th century.
