Picture to come.
A wooden frame padded with cloth or straw and strapped to a horse or mule, from which loads such as sacks, panniers and bundles hung on either side. Packhorses carried goods along tracks and paths unsuitable for carts. In medieval England, however, most overland goods traffic went by cart rather than packhorse.
