The Wheelwright
In their time
Wheelwrights made wheels for carts, wagons and barrows, a skilled job that used different woods for different parts: by long tradition elm for the hub, oak for the spokes and ash for the rim. Medieval wheels were often strengthened with iron strakes nailed round the rim by a smith. Every district with carts needed a wheelwright, and the trade was largely rural and family-run. It depended on seasoned timber from woodmen and iron from smiths.

What they need
A hammer, an adze, a chisel and a drawknife, without which the work can't be done. Also useful: a knife. They work at a wheelwright and wainwright shop.
How they learn
They learn wheelwright by doing it: the work is practice, and practice raises their rank.
