The Draper
In their time
Drapers dealt in woollen cloth, buying it from weavers, fullers or clothiers and selling it by the length to tailors and customers. In many towns they were among the wealthiest merchants and dominated town government. The London Drapers were one of the great livery companies. They depended on the whole cloth chain from shepherd to dyer, and they controlled much of its profit.
