The Glazier

In their time

Glaziers made and fitted windows, from plain glass for wealthy houses to the stained glass of churches, where they painted and assembled pieces of coloured glass with lead strips. The glass itself came from separate glassmakers: much was imported from the Continent, though some was made in England, notably in the Weald. Glass was expensive, so for much of the period only churches and the rich had glazed windows.
